What I Learnt from Mie

I know, my poor blog has been neglected the past few months, this time, I was not having a baby or moving house, I just had to stop. You know, when life gets chaotic I tend to need breaks, I need time to think -also to procrastinate a bit- and just make changes. I meant to come back earlier, but the thought of restarting after so much silence was daunting me. It needed to be for a special occasion and today it is.

This post comes from a brilliant idea cooked by Celina -author of the blog Petit a Petit Family– and Ines -author of La folie sewing both– some weeks ago. They wanted to join forces of other minds alike in order to make a video about a generous person: Mie, and specifically about what we have learnt from her.

I really hope you know who is Mie. But if you don’t, she has a blog called Sewing like Mad -please, you must go and visit- she make amazing clothes and as well as fabulous tutorials, is a trained seamstress and also had a line of clothing back in Denmark -how awesome!-

If I’m not wrong the first time I came across Mie’s blog was this post -probably I got it from Pinterest- and it was love at first sight. So colourful and full of technique. Since then, I have been following -stalking- her blog and more lately her Instagram and Facebook page. For me, Mie is a constant source of knowledge not only about sewing techniques but about inspiration and how to make better clothes. Also I have to mention, she is the most helpful and generous person ever!

That is why, as you could imagine, it was not an easy task to narrow to just one thing I have learnt from her -you know video time is short!-. Well at the end, I decided for the elimination of Seam Allowances. I will tell you once you are exposed to this kind of knowledge, you are going to save yourself a good headache before cutting into your lovely fabric.

Thank you Mie for all your patience, knowledge and generosity! I hope you enjoy the video and understand my dodgy accent -lol- lots of love to you!! xxx
